CONSISTENCY > INTENSITY
Consistency > Intensity. Consistent intensity is the secret to success, but you need to master consistency before you master intensity. There is no way around. You must establish a habit before you can improve it. When we start the journey of change, we are highly motivated and tend to go all out on our goals. We set hyper ambitious goals like studying 12 hours a day. It is possible to study 12 hours a day on the first day because you are running high on inspiration. The difficult part is repeating it the next day.
The gym is
crowded on January 1st because people are running high on motivation
during that season. People gradually drop out and only the ones who are
consistent show up even on January 30th.
I have had
days when I studied 10 hours a day. I knew I could give up everything and go
hardcore on my goals. But it was unsustainable. I couldn't continue it for
long. To reach where I wanted to reach, I should be studying 10 hours a day, 6
days a week at least.
I have
studied for 20+ days continuously for 8+ hours a day. So, why can't I do it
now? Why hasn't the habit of studying 8+ hours a day stitched onto my daily
routine? The one thing I noticed was that my marathon of those productive days
preceded an upcoming examination or a deadline. I worked hard but I needed the
devil of a rapidly approaching examination day or a deadline to hang over my
head. Without such pressure, I just slacked off. And I realized that bursts of
intense work were not sufficient to establish a lifestyle. I needed to work 5
hours every day throughout the year instead of working intensely in bursts to
achieve my goals.
Greatness=
